SINO-INTERNATIONAL COMPANY MEETINGS
Marché du Film, Cannes
Are you interested in Sino-international collaboration but still have not found the right approach? Do you have a project related to China but was put on hold during the pandemic? Do you find it challenging to restart its development again?
As we know, the last years put a halt on many international collaborations, in particular with China. The Chinese film market dropped dramatically due to the rigorous Covid-restriction policies. Yet, one must bear in mind its size which still makes it potentially the world’s largest theatrical film market. The Spring holiday window this year showed the affection of the local audience to cinema with a record box office performance breaching €920 million in just 7 days, the second-highest Spring holiday result to date. As of today, in China there are approximately 80.000 screens and in the next 20 years this number is expected to rise to 160.000. In the long run, this country is still full of opportunities for foreign filmmakers.
For this reason, the producers’ association Bridging the Dragon together with the Marché du Film will host for the seventh year the Sino-International Company Meetings. The aim is to reactivate the dialogue between Chinese and international professionals by matchmaking companies from both sides according to their mutual focuses and goals. In line with the new Asian angle of the association, professionals from other Far East Asian countries or regions keen to meet with Chinese companies are also welcome. The event will take place in the afternoon on Thursday, 18th May 2023 in Cannes.
