With a more favorable filming environment compared to Mainland China, Hong Kong is positioning itself as a future hub for co-productions. The city is working on a new co-production funding scheme designed specifically for the coproduction with Europe.

In this context, in partnership with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), Bridging the dragon is organizing a European mission to the Hong Kong FILMART (11 - 14 March 2024), the largest marketplace in Asia for the entertainment industry. Approximately 15 European film producers and institutional representatives from different countries would take part to the initiative. The aim of the trip is to offer to the delegates an insight of the growing Asian content industry, matchmaking opportunities, contacts with local institutions, in order to develop further cooperation.

Film professionals with a proven track record and a special interest in Euro-Asian film collaboration will be selected.

In case of space limitation, Bridging the Dragon's members will be given special priority. 

|| STRUCTURE ||

The delegation will take place on 11-14 March 2024. The foreseen program would include:

  • Introduction to the local film community of Hong Kong and its filming opportunities
  • Immersion in the local market and attendance to the panel discussions on Euro-Asian film co-production involving Asian film institutions and producers
  • One-on-one matchmaking meetings and networking activities
  • Visit to local companies and film realities

|| FEES ||

Fee: €4,270. This covers airfare, accommodation, market badge, organization costs, local transportation, guide, and subsistence during the event.

Financial Support:

Norwegian Film Institute will offer travel grants to selected Norwegian film professionals. For detailed information and application guidelines, please visit here.

FFA will extend support to 2 German film professionals, offering each a travel grant of €2,500 for this journey.

Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg will  support up to 4 film professionals from the Berlin-Brandenburg region, providing €2,500 to each participant.

We are actively engaging in ongoing discussions with various European film institutes to broaden the scope of support for this initiative. Participants outside the above regions are encouraged to seek financial support from national/regional funding bodies. Inform us if you apply to any of BTD supporting institutions.
